How to create an Animated GIF with GIMP (video tutorial)
This is a basic tutorial on how to animate a GIF image using the GIMP.
When I say Jiff I'm referring to GIF, that IS how it is meant to be pronounced. It was clarified by the inventors of the format look it up.

0:35 pixels okay then uh when that's open go
0:40 over to your layers thing if you don't
0:42 have a layers just go to dialogs layers
0:44 then it should already have a background
0:47 um it sure I have a white background
0:51 just right uh no don't right-click just
0:54 have that re selected then click
0:57 duplicate layer however many slides you
0:59 want you know however many times you
1:03 wanted to switch so let's just do a
1:04 small for one so it's go one two three 1:07 four out made four so that and then 1:11 rename them to easier stuff like right 1:13 click edit layer attribute let's call 1:16 the first one frame one and the second 1:22 one frame to a third one frame three and 1:31 the fourth one frame four okay then um 1:40 go to frame one I just always click 1:43 these little eyes so they don't appear 1:44 over my picture yeah cuz they'll go over 1:48 your picture so when you're on frame one 1:49 if it makes sure that you have these 1:51 eyes on clicked underneath the ones 1:54 above it okay now let's start drawing 1:59 okay for frame one let's click the 2:01 paintbrush just going to be a really 2:02 easy one so don't feel good sucks it 2:05 obviously it sucks I'm trying to fit it 2:06 into the time YouTube a lot so 2:09 here we go okay let's just draw a little 2:12 stick figure guy click hold shift to 2:15 draw a straight line by the way click 2:17 shift and my head let's fill that in 2:27 paintbrush ok slave 2:43 I mean frame one is that on on click the 2:47 little eye and click the little eye on 2:48 the next one up let's make this stickman 2:52 going like this 2:53 whoops oh that's that's just because I 2:56 accidentally had the one below it's 2:58 still selected so I'll control Z there 3:00 we go now let's do it 3:13 okay just about done and Paint Bucket 3:20 then I right-click select none $2 3:25 another stickman let's unclick the I 3:28 click then click that okay just have to 3:32 quick make this mean it's not a big I'd 3:38 love to make another one more stick man 3:41 and a circle hey making circles in this 3:46 out if there's an easier way or not but 3:49 that's the way I do it so not really 3:52 carry right click select whoops I'm just 3:58 going to control Z that really quick 4:00 okay now let's create another one arms 4:06 okay now last frame for this animation 4:11 let's just put the whoops 4:20 clip stick that upside down man ah 4:25 circle fill it in paintbrush right click 4:35 select none let's draw some arms okay 4:42 there go it's pretty good for an ax fish 4:44 okay it's not that good but anyway now 4:48 we can test our animation by going to 4:50 dial 4:51 uh no not filters and animation and 4:54 playback they just click placed off and 4:57 notice it's going really fast so if you 5:01 want to go slower per frame and here's 5:03 what we do go to UM go to your go to 5:10 your frame that you want to play longer 5:12 and then right click on it edit layer 5:13 attribute and space and then put a 5:16 starting parenthesis then put them out 5:20 of time you want in milliseconds a 5:22 millisecond is one thousandth of a 5:24 second so say you want a one second just 5:27 put 1000 milliseconds whoops 5:30 for 1000 MS and then click OK 5:34 and then uh let's just make them all 5:37 last for one set and say you want if you 5:40 want two seconds then it's just uh if I 5:43 1 2 seconds as to 2000 milliseconds if I 5:48 want like if I want one and a half I 5:50 just do one thousand five hundred 5:51 milliseconds okay and then uh and then 5:59 you just do that and delete on you a 500 6:02 that's one half a millisecond I mean 6:04 that's one half second then let's just 6:08 make the last one two seconds 6:14 okay okay now let's uh filters animation 6:19 playback play stop scene arts going nice 6:23 and slow it's going the exact bow that 6:25 you specified well it's so awesome 6:30 anyway okay now here's how you save your 6:34 up you can make it as big as you want as 6:37 long as you follow what I did I just did 6:38 it for a small one but you could add as 6:40 many frames you want to do it if you 6:41 want it can I just go to file - save it 6:45 as an animated gif then you go save as 6:48 and I'm just going to save it on my 6:50 desktop because it's where you save 6:52 everything oh whoops 6:54 okay there we go now I can either just 6:59 type in your name dot jiff you can I'm 7:02 just a native animation - because I 7:06 already have an animation cuz I was 7:08 testing this to make sure I remembered 7:09 I'd do it I can either I'll click on 7:11 this down here let's just click on it 7:14 down there or whatever okay so that's to 7:17 be jiff has to be a jiff I just click 7:20 Save then I will be like old roof can't 7:23 handle late layers that can only handle 7:27 layers as animation frames then you just 7:29 click the save as animation radio button 7:31 that stuff doesn't matter and click 7:34 export and it done this stuff I don't 7:38 think any of this matters only if this 7:40 what this is is um if you didn't type in 7:43 these weird parentheses with 2000 7:45 milliseconds and stuff and if you want 7:48 to set them out for all of them you 7:49 don't want to type that in you can just 7:50 type the number in right there and I'll 7:51 make it all the same time for each one 7:53 these click OK and my animation is now 7:57 on the desktop so then I just right 7:59 click preview I know it's an aunt now 8:02 you can like upload it to photo bucket 8:04 and put on your forum or something 8:06 anyway that's it that's how you do it's 8:09 pretty easy
